InPut is created and directed by Aiala Etxegarai Mendiguren, who took the step to establish the company in 2015 after winning the YOUNG PRIZE at the 29th Choreographic Contest of Madrid with her first piece, PLAY.
In 2017, after many years, she returned to the Basque Country, where she located the company's headquarters in Getxo, Bizkaia, and since then, she has combined her career as a performer with her own creations. As a creator, her artistic exploration focuses on exploring from the body, voice, gesture, and movement, as a channel of communication, using contact improvisation as a fundamental tool. Her language and vision of contemporary dance seeks to fuse physical theater and performing arts together with contemporary dance and contact improvisation.
Since the premiere of her first creation in 2015, InPut has received support from the Basque Government (Performing Arts Production: Production I, Dantzan Bilaka) and Harrobia Espazio Eszenikoa (Transiciones, Eszenabide). The company participated in the programs of festivals such as Fringe Madrid, Umore Azoka, BAD, Eszena Kalera...
The piece El arte de no ser/(“the art of not being”) is part of the recommended works catalog of the Basque Theater Network SAREA. With this same work, she received the JUANA BIZKARRA GRANT from the Getxo City Council in 2023.
